DANBURY, Conn. – Terrance (Terry) Storz has been named the new Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach at his alma mater Western Connecticut State University, announced Director of Athletics and Recreation Lori R. Mazza on Monday.

"We are very excited to have Terry as our new Head Men and Women's Cross Country coach" said Mazza.  "His experience at the high school level paired up with his love and knowledge of his alma mater, Western Connecticut State University, is a perfect match to take over our program.  I believe he will make our team not only better but competitive for years to come."

Stoz, a 2010 graduate and WestConn Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach since 2021, will embark on his first competitive season at the helm when the Wolves fall 2023 season commences in September.

"I would like to thank Lori Mazza and the entire athletic department for this opportunity," acknowledged Stroz.  "It is always great when you can coach at your alma mater. I am beyond excited and ready to bring my knowledge and experience of running to WestConn and lead the cross country program."

Stroz most recently was the Head Boys Cross Country Coach at nearby Masuk High School in Monroe, Connecticut.  He has coached the Panthers since 2016 and was the Head Boys Lacrosse Coach from 2013 to 2021.

Last fall, Masuk placed 21st in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class MM Championships.

"After several years of coaching at the high school level I am eager to work at the next level and help build something special," added Stroz.

The Masuk, Connecticut native earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from WestConn in 2010 then earned a Master of Educational Technology degree from American College of Education last May.  In 2017, Stroz obtained a Special Education Certification from Southern Connecticut State University.

WestConn, which has 18 intercollegiate programs, added men's and women's lacrosse as a varsity program for the fall 2018 season.
