Andrea Hyatt has been sworn in as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom. Hyatt will be part of the Civil Division, where she is expected to handle cases involving federal tort claims, employment discrimination, immigration, and issues under the Administrative Procedure Act and False Claims Act.
Hyatt brings over 23 years of litigation experience from both private and public sectors. She previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Texas. She received an “Outstanding” performance rating for 2024.
Before her tenure as a federal prosecutor, Hyatt held senior litigation positions at BNSF Railway Co., where she worked on labor and employment law issues, corporate compliance, and internal investigations. She managed legal teams handling large volumes of cases nationwide. Her career also includes practice at Thomson & Knight LLP in Dallas and service as an Assistant City Attorney for Dallas.
Hyatt graduated from the University of Texas School of Law. While there, she was elected to the Order of the Coif honor society and served as Articles Editor for the Texas Law Review.
