COVENTRY, RI – Governor Dan McKee, Coventry Town Manager Daniel Parrillo, and Town Council President Hillary Lima signed the Learn365RI Municipal Compact.
“I thank our partners in Coventry for recognizing the importance in expanding and strengthening educational opportunities for our students,” said Governor McKee. “Investing in our students is something we can all get on board with.”
“The Town of Coventry supports the Governor’s Learn 365 initiative to enable our children to expand their learning environment beyond the classroom to make them better students and active members of the community,” said Town Manager Daniel Parrillo.
“High quality education cannot just be the priority of school departments and the families they serve, but that of the entire community,” said Coventry Town Council President Hillary Lima. “A well-educated community is the backbone of success for not only the future of a city or town, but for the State of Rhode Island as well. The Town of Coventry is proud to enthusiastically make that commitment to improving education outcomes in the Ocean State with the Governor’s office.”
Learn365RI seeks to improve student learning outcomes to reach Massachusetts levels in three key metrics: RICAS math and English Language Arts scores, student attendance, and FAFSA completion.
Coventry is the 12th community to commit to partnering with the state to improve student achievement levels through increasing out-of-school learning time, joining Newport, Bristol, East Providence, East Greenwich, Providence, Warren, Smithfield, Pawtucket, North Kingstown, Jamestown and Cranston.
