On April 24, 2023, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Nickolas Keeney with a total of 14 counts: three counts of first-degree domestic sexual assault, nine counts of domestic simple assault, one count of domestic vandalism, and one count of domestic felony assault.

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Newport sometime on December 6, 2022. The investigation was conducted by the Newport Police Department.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on May 18, 2023 in Newport County Superior Court.
