Little East Conference recently issued the following announcement.
Field Athlete of the Week
Andrew Swallow (Framingham, Mass.) – Senior – UMass Dartmouth
Swallow was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week after winning the discus (44.80m) and shot put (15.51m), and placing second in the hammer (47.76m) at the Tufts Sunshine Classic Saturday. His mark in the shot put ranks 21st in NCAA Division III this season, and ranks second in New England. He now ranks fourth in New England in the discus and 11th in the hammer.
Track Athlete of the Week / Track Athlete of the Week
David Bennett (Newton, Mass.) – Freshman – UMass Dartmouth
Bennet again swept the LEC’s weekly track honors after winning the 200-meter dash (21.69) and placing second in the 400-meter dash (48.93) at the Tufts Sunshine Classic Saturday. His 200-meter time ranks 36th in NCAA Division III this season, while his 400-meter time is 40th in the country.
Rookie Field Athlete of the Week
Collin Wiltshire (Ledyard, Conn.) – Junior – Eastern Connecticut
Wiltshire, who is in his first collegiate season, was named LEC Rookie Field Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump with a facility record mark of 14.34 meters at the Warriors’ home invitational Friday. His mark now ranks him 16th in NCAA Division III this season.
Relay of the Week
UMass Dartmouth 4×100
The Corsairs’ 4×100 relay team comprised of Ollie Akinwunmi, Xavier Manuel, Edward Lundy, Bryan Obidike placed third with a time of 43.35 seconds at the Tufts Sunshine Classic, which is the 15th-fastest time in New England this season.
