The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced that Moosup Valley Road between Potter Road and the Tyler Free Library in Foster will be temporarily closed on March 25. The closure is scheduled to occur in short intervals, each lasting up to 20 minutes, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., as crews place steel at the Moosup Valley Road Bridge.

According to the department, detours will be in place during these closures. The work is part of an ongoing multibridge replacement project in Foster.

Since last fall, the department has demolished and rebuilt the portion of the Moosup Valley Road Bridge that typically carries eastbound traffic. Once steel placement is complete, work will continue on replacing the westbound section of the bridge. This phase includes pouring a concrete deck and completing roadway restoration such as approach slabs, asphalt courses, and sidewalks.

A temporary traffic signal controlling single-lane traffic over the bridge will remain until mid-summer. In addition to work on Moosup Valley Road Bridge, the department has also replaced Rams Tail Road and Mill Road bridges as part of this $11.5 million project. Final completion for all work is scheduled for late summer 2027.

All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings, and weather conditions according to the official roster page.
