The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) recently hosted a webinar in Rhode Island focusing on significant legislative developments affecting small businesses in the state. The session, titled “What legislation is affecting Rhode Island’s small businesses?” covered several key topics of interest to the local business community.
The discussions included the Governor’s proposal for tax cuts alongside legislative bills for both tax increases and cuts. Additionally, the session addressed the impact of potential new legislation, including a rise in the minimum wage to $21 per hour, and changes in energy policies which could result in a ban on fossil fuel use in new buildings and lawn care equipment.
NFIB has made available a recorded summary video for those who could not attend the webinar. The video, titled “NFIB Rhode Island: What legislation is affecting small businesses?” provides a concise overview of these legislative measures.
The organization has called on small business owners to take action regarding the tax cut proposal. NFIB suggests reaching out to legislators to express support for the Governor’s tax cut plans. Business owners are encouraged to customize their communication by including personal business names and stories to ensure their messages stand out. An action alert is available online for this purpose.
For further engagement, NFIB advises calling the State House at 401-222-3983 to leave a message with representatives, urging support for the tax cut proposals. Additionally, they suggest sharing this message with other business owners to strengthen community advocacy efforts.
NFIB provides further resources for business owners interested in advocacy. Rhode Island small business owners are encouraged to contact State Director Chris Carlozzi and Grassroots Manager Julianna Rauf for more information or to become more involved with NFIB’s advocacy initiatives.
Business owners can also visit NFIB’s Advocacy Center online to explore more ways to make their voices heard regarding legislation impacting small businesses. The NFIB assures its members of continued support and encourages any inquiries about these developments.
