Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a North Providence man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with multiple drug trafficking offenses stemming from his arrest by the Rhode Island State Police (RISP) on September 13, 2022.
On April 21, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Rashaun Williams (age 33), by way of criminal information, with one count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of cocaine, one count of possession of one kilogram to five kilograms of marijuana, one count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, one count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, one count of conspiracy to possess cocaine, and one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver cocaine and/or marijuana.
As alleged in the criminal information, in August 2022, the RISP High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force began investigating several individuals, including the defendant, involved in drug distribution in Rhode Island.
During the early morning hours of September 13, 2022, members of the HIDTA task force executed a warrant at the defendant’s apartment in North Providence. As alleged in the criminal information, investigators apprehended the defendant and seized a small, knotted plastic bag containing smaller knotted clear plastic bags inside, containing crack cocaine.
It is alleged that investigators then searched the defendant’s apartment and seized quantities of cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
As alleged in the criminal information, the State Forensic Chemistry lab confirmed the presence of cocaine and marijuana in the drugs seized from the defendant’s apartment.
The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on June 23, 2023 in Providence County Superior Court.
