A restaurant closed by the state for staying open past curfew and other violations has been allowed to reopen after the state lifted its compliance orders.
Also, a town council meeting was held to address the claim that North Providence officers went to the restaurant, Centredale Revival, earlier in the month after a health inspector had reported harassment.
The owner, Shane Piche however brushed the issue off, calling it miscommunication.
"There has never been a call to our restaurant for any issue aside from the state of Rhode Island weaponizing our local police department,” said Piche, reports 12 News. On denying officers entry, he argued that it was not necessary to send police officers on behalf of health inspectors.
North Providence Town Council President Dino Autiello encouraged unity and working together.
On Tuesday, the council met to deliberate on easing COVID-19 restrictions. A resolution was made unanimously, to create legislation to ask for the loosening of regulations.
