Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week: March 28, 2022

Little East Conference recently issued the following announcement.

Field Athlete of the Week

Collin Wiltshire (Ledyard, Conn.) - Junior - Eastern Connecticut

Wiltshire was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump at Wesleyan’s Elmer Swanson Classic. His winning leap of 14.29 meters currently ranks him seventh in NCAA Division III this season.

Track Athlete of the Week

Sam Hennedy (Douglas, Mass.) - Sophomore - Keene State

Hennedy was named the LEC Track Athlete of the Week after placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.40 seconds, which ranks him sixth in New England. He was the lone DIII competitor in the event.

Rookie Field Athlete of the Week

Harrison Leombruno-Nicholson (Underhill, Vt.) - Freshman - Castleton

Leombruno-Nicholson was named the LEC Rookie Field Athlete of the Week after he won the javelin at St. Lawrence’s Ice Breaker Open. His toss of 56.83 meters currently ranks 16th in the nation.

Rookie Track Athlete of the Week

Kaito Yasuda (Columbia, Conn.) - Freshman - Eastern Connecticut

Yasuda was named the LEC Rookie Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 200-meer dash (22.63) and finishing second in the 100-meter dash (11.25) at Wesleyan’s Elmer Swanson Classic. His 100 time is tied for third in New England, while his 200 time ranks 11th.

Relay of the Week

Eastern Connecticut 4x100

The Warriors team of Cory Bill, Eric Phongsa, Ryan Reid and Yasuda placed second at Wesleyan’s Elmer Swanson Classic with a time of 44.17 seconds.
