Recently, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in Rhode Island conducted a webinar titled "What legislation is affecting Rhode Island’s small businesses?" The event covered various legislative proposals impacting the business environment in the state.
The discussion included the Governor's tax cut proposal and several legislative bills proposing both tax hikes and cuts. Among the topics were bills that could affect business costs, such as a proposed increase in the minimum wage to $21 per hour. Additionally, changes to energy policies were addressed, specifically those that would restrict fossil fuel use for new buildings and lawn care equipment.
A summary video of the webinar is available for viewing. Those interested can access it via a provided link or by visiting https://vimeo.com/806543923/6803cbc81b.
The NFIB encourages small business owners to take action by supporting the Governor's tax cut proposal. They suggest filling out an action alert form to contact legislators, which can be accessed at https://www.votervoice.net/NFIB/39/campaigns/100783/respond. Business owners are also encouraged to call their representatives at 401-222-3983 and leave messages advocating for support of the tax cut proposals.
For further involvement or questions regarding policy, NFIB members can reach out to State Director Chris Carlozzi at Christopher.Carlozzi@NFIB.org or Grassroots Manager Julianna Rauf at Julianna.Rauf@NFIB.org. Additional resources are available on NFIB’s Advocacy Center website.
