WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jenna Gardner and Abby Trimble hit home runs in the Bryant University softball team’s losses in the doubleheader against Howard on Monday.

 Key Moment (GM1)

  • The Bulldogs gave up three runs after going up 4-2.

How it Happened (GM1)

  • Gardner began the game with a walk, which led to a two-RBI double down the left-field line from Megan Marcel in the top of the first inning (2-0). Courtney Paolantonio brought Marcel home on a single up the middle to give the Bulldogs a three-run lead (3-0).
  • The Bison shrunk the Bulldog lead to one on a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning (3-2).
  • During the top of the second inning, McKenzie McAloon hit a leadoff single, and Olivia Fee executed a bunt single on back-to-back at-bats. Gardner was then walked, which led to a sacrifice fly from Hailey Aspinwall (4-2).
  • Howard scored their third run on a sac fly in the bottom of the third (4-3).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Howard tied the game with a single up the middle (4-4).
  • The Bison earned a one-run lead in the top of the sixth inning on a single up the middle (5-4).

  • Howard scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning.

How it Happened (GM2)

  • Gardner started the contest with a bang as she hit a leadoff HR in the top of the first inning (1-0).
  • Trimble hit a single to start the top of the second inning. Fee then drew a walk, which led to a two-RBI triple down the left-field line from Gardner (3-0). The Bulldogs recorded two more runs in the inning on a wild pitch and a single courtesy of Aleix Hudson (5-0).
  • The Bison countered with seven runs in the bottom of the second inning on three singles, a bases-loaded walk, and a Bulldog error (7-5).
  • The Black and Gold responded quickly with a solo shot to deep left center by Trimble in the top of the third inning (7-6).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Howard tallied two runs on RBI groundouts (9-6).
  • The Bison recorded two runs on a bulldog error and a groundout (11-6).
