Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Providence man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with assaulting his neighbor with a ghost gun during a dispute at a multi-family home in Providence in January 2023.
On June 1, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Jose Feliz Restituyo (age 21), by way of criminal information, with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of using a firearm when committing a crime of violence, one count of possession of a ghost gun, and one count of possession of a large capacity magazine.
As alleged in the criminal information, at approximately 5:48 p.m. on January 9, 2023, members of the Providence Police Department responded to a residence on Croyland Road after receiving a report of a male subject pointing a firearm at a neighbor.
It is alleged that before officers arrived on scene, the defendant and a neighbor in the multi-family residence entered into a verbal argument stemming from a power outage in the defendant’s unit. The defendant escalated the argument by drawing a pistol and pointing it at his neighbor.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the defendant in his residential unit where they arrested him and seized a 9 mm Polymer80 ghost gun equipped with a 15-round large capacity magazine.
The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on August 21, 2023 in Providence County Superior Court.
